This is why people should take logic in undergrad. Your argument is this:
Person X is in job Y, which is high status. Therefore, X must be smart.
That conclusion doesn't follow from its premises.

Lol he kind of looks like Steve Carell.
Turns out previous BOC governor (Dodge) did all the manoeuvring and policy work but Carney took all the credit. I am amazed he has lasted this long in the UK - a remarkable example of the Peter principle in economics if there ever was one.

I think Carney is a good salesman: he’s good at selling himself as a smart man who knows what’s going on, when in reality he’s a charlatan.
I read an FT article a while back. His thesis advisor at Oxford, Margaret Meyer, had a lacklustre opinion of his academic work.

Canadian financial regulation is good, and Canada's economy is more heavily dependent on natural resources anyway. The provincial and federal governments also had sound balance sheets.
