    Mensa is for the types of people who put sat scores on their LinkedIn and gre scores on the cv.

    High iq has mostly moved to government and tech.

    Academia is mostly unstable workaholics.

    The typical Mensa member is someone whose greatest achievement in life was his IQ test score.

    There are some lemons in NBER who are like that -- their advisor was well-connected and got them in, and they haven't accomplished anything significant in their careers -- but that's rare.
