Apparently moving with the expectation to go up for tenure in two years.

Which papers is he putting his name on? I know some of his work on inflation expectations and can't see any paper for which this seems a concern.

A guy who doesn't understand the difference between putting his name on published papers and actually writing papers that deserve to get published. Not the only one doing so, but here we are talking about tenure in Chicago.Preach
I give him full credit essentially only for his sticky prices papers. On most others, at least those whose coauthors I know well, he has just (at best) wrote the intro. Even his solo paper on equity term structure has big flaws and made it to the JFE somehow (if you read it I am sure you will figure out why). Again, playing the game and Michael being a very likeable guy helps, as does his affiliation. But that's not what it takes to get tenure at Chicago (without diversity cards). He will be fine - I am not too worried :)
And if I check his published papers on his CV, it seems all are with repeated coauthors and none of these coauthors seem the type to add his name to their papers. Either you make a case or you are just another jelly basement dweller.
I am not outing on an anonymous forum people I trust and some also work with me. Ask yourself around if you are really that interested. Although you do have a point. In MW's defense, some of them are fine doing all the work and benefit from his connections.
And don't take me wrong, I like him and he deserves to be tenured in a good place. Just put all this in context when we are talking about tenure in Chicago.
Who are those so-called coauthors of his who would complain?
I just looked at his CV, and it looks very solid to me.
How many of you have a 34 page CV?
How many of you are an associate professor at a top five school?
How many of you graduated with a PhD in Finance from a top 10 school at the age of 27?
How many of you are just jealous of this guy?
I think I know the answer to all of these questions.
