Well I can tell that I wouldn't be as succesful as I am without European welfare state, but the family that I was born into wasn't typical middle class family. But its also true that many educated persons would earn more in US. So, optimal way would get free education from Europe and then move to US.

Europe does have superior architecture and aesthetics. But like everything this is past on its past glory. Modern day euros seem to be actively destroying their past cultural richness.
But the truth about Europe is you need more than 300K per year to live in comfort. Americans have access to cheaper and better homes, food ('tis true, sorry, raw input quality is much higher), electronics, and just about any consumer good one could want.
The one thing more expensive is healthcare, but poor people actually do have access. So this is a bit of a myth.
Europe is great if you are rich, otherwise places like Phoenix or San Antonio or Raleigh may not be the prettiest girls on the block, but they are more than adequate.
The violence thing: Unfortunately this is related to specific subgroups that euros don't have. But that is of course changing, so it should be a fun natural experiment.
One more thing, at the local level corruption in the US is much lower than europe. Naples is basically a giant garbage dump at this point. Really sad. I blame Garibaldi.
Where did you do your PhD? If not in America, the probability is near 1 that you're an LRM. If you did your PhD in the US, don't bite the hand that feeds you, f**khead.
Truth: America has bad food, poorly educated people, trashy culture, oligarch, corrupt politicians, etc., that the majority of other countries in the world also have. The difference? America has the most expensive healthcare in the world. America has highest incarceration rate in the world. America has highest rate of random people killed by gun and by police. America has highest rate of production of garbage per person. Last but not least, American universities are the most expensive in the world yet produce the largest number of idiots.

And no, you don't need 300K to live comfortably in Europe. Secondly just because you say you love Europe it doesn't make your opinion any more unbiased.
As an outsider, the US seem great for career-oriented people, but I am more than happy with my lrm career in europe: being closer to family and friends matters a lot to me. Yet sometimes I wonder what could have been if I had accepted to move there for my Phd.

To listen to Europeans talk, you would think Europe was some kind of wonderland. But go there are it's actually unimpressive and not a particularly nice place to live. There are exceptions to this which are genuinely impressive (Switzerland and Scandinavia) but they account for a combined about 5% of Europe. Europeans' condescension about other places should basically be understood as a kind of provincial lack of social skills.
Comparing net salaries is highly misleading. Childcare and education is almost free in most European countries. Rents are also lower, I'd say, if you in compare apples to apples (big city to big city etc). But that's not the main reason I don't like the US. Culture and attitude is what matters. The day I learned that in one of my universities' offices, in the middle of the summer both the AC and a fan heater were turned on, I've learned everything there is to know about this sad country.
