4 weeks are over..still no info from NDB... :(
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Bank for the next stage of the recruitment process in around four weeks from the last date of application for a position. We thank you for your understanding.

Head of this New DB only has an MBA from some IIM in India.
Non Economist. What do we make of that ?This should be a very encouraging trend. I hope this will kill bureaucrats placing their kids in all lead organisations such as consultancies and multilateral agencies by misusing their power and contacts. I wish NDB hires purely on merit and discourages (bans generations of) those who try to use power to influence positions. This applies to all kiths and kins of politicians, top industrialists and the most dangerous of all: rank and file bureaucrats.

If you lower the selection criterias (no PhD required anymore), then mechanically you encourage nepotism.

I think all of you seemed to be misinformed.
1. The first NDB Head was mandated to be Indian
2. The chosen guy has a slight political tint towards the current Government in India
3. That said He has great credentials as he built one of India's best banks in his career and yes went to the best Bschool in India.
4. Cronyism never stops completely whatever you do. -

No PhDs are required for other multilateral YPPs.

4. Cronyism never stops completely whatever you do.The head of a Development bank need not be an economist. Jim Yong King is a Doctor and Anthropologist by profession. K. V Kamath has substantial experience in project finance with India's largest multinational private sector bank, which was established as a WOS of World Bank. He also served in ADB's private sector arm for 8 years. His experience in financial and IT industry is unparallel. That said, cronyism is promoted by mindset - if NDB has to differentiate itself from existing development banks, it has to encourage merit over nepotism/ favouritism and bring on board youth who are in real passionate about development.
