So Nature has launched "Nature Sustainability," and as an environmental economist this seems like potentially a good outlet.
How would a pub here be evaluated? Obviously it won't have an impact factor for a few years. Part of my says just having the Nature branding shouldn't matter, but to my knowledge all of their spin-off journals are well regarded.
You are investing brand growth and diversifying out of econ. It will likely be seen as a junior nature paper in the LR. Not super valued in econ, but valued by admin and interdisciplinary types. It is like sending a paper to AEJ in 2010 investing in a junior AER in the LR.

I recently sent a paper to Nat: Sus, because I want to get faster decision. Referee reports come back in 3 weeks. I was given another 3weeks for RR. The quality of the referee reports are roughly the same as JEEM, as the editor clearly chose economists as referees.
The writing and structure of paper is different from a typical Econ paper. I basically have to put a very long appendix to do all the checks required by the referees.
Suggestion: if you have a few top fields already, this is a nice outlet to get more people reading your work and knowing you.
