We can't understand why people are upset!
NYTimes doubles down on "crime was higher in the 80s"
-
The difference is that now we have far more tools for fighting crime (DNA, CCTV everywhere, everyone carries cell phones, etc.) Alarmingly, the clearance rate has plummeted over the last six decades. Now cops are solving only half of mürders, instead of 90% in the 1960s. Also, homicides surged 30% in 2020, highest increase in the last 100 years outside the 9/11 attacks.

I'm looking forward to the next NYT piece on "racism was higher in the 80s" and "homophobia was stronger in the 80s".
Or what about "economic growth was higher in the 80s", "inflation was lower in the 80s", and "relations with Russia were better in the 80s"?
Reports the facts, right?
