It is a zero sum game unless people are more prodoctive to get ahead. The problem nowaydays is that working hard does not translate to a better standard of living. The middle class is getting crushed and so are young graduates. Thats why people are protesting you dumb ****s.
-
Yes you learn things that are useful but the problem is how much are you willing to pay to be taught and tested. I really doubt that 40k a year is what its worth. More like 2-3k MAX. I dont think its fair for undergrads to pay for the PhD stipends.
^doubtful for engineering or any sciences related work. But for non-accounting business degrees yea all you really need are some week long excel classes. The rest you can pick up on the job.
-
What these people are really clamoring for is an economics course. All I hear is "we don't get, we don't understand what's going on, we think those people in Europe who make half what we make, pay double our prices and our taxes are living better, aaargh our brains hurt." Somebody be kind and explain to them the basics of the world they live in.
-
^dude you have neither data nor theory to back up your assertions. Engineers need ****ing training. Maybe there is a better system to train them, but then you should start that. Of course that would take hard work which you don't seem to believe. Just pay everyone 65k a year no matter the skill differences right?
====================
As to: The middle class is getting crushed and so are young graduates. Thats why people are protesting you dumb ****s.
------------------Define crushed. And how is hard work not paying off? Care to cite evidence?

I was working hard on banging your mom and she had multiple orgasms and swallowed my hot cum in her mouth. She only paid me $15 an hour and I didnt enjoy the experience.
Is that enough evidence for you?

America?..No export, no socialism, no industrial power and and and...so what?..
It is true that we are probably not 99%. yes, they exeggerated a bit, but they are partly right that we need a big change on Wallstreet.
What innovation has the American society actually brought up up to now?...Nothing, but complicated financial innovation most bankers don“t understand by themselves (CDS, credit card etc.).Americans need to have diversified innovations and diversified fields like industry, consumer products, financial service, export etc.

10/10 epic trolling, misspelling adds a great element of one of those guys who doesn't know shit but is into heterodox econ stuff for fun on the side.

Bro, IM a scholar. Scholars dont troll.
My comments are 100% valid. Growing income inequality, student debt and shrinking middle class are all symptoms of an economy going wrong. I hope there will be a depression so that the risk takers and business owners get crushed.
-
Bro, you are a troll. To make comments that denote a total misunderstanding of economics from the ground up, like "capitalism is a zero-sum game", and to claim that you are a "scholar", you must be.

Dude my mom's in her 70s. The jokes on you.Better lube her up first then. That steel-wool bush can be scratchy too, so have her wear a merkin.

this chick scares me... Even after all this, she wants to get a BFA???? can't she try something like health-related fields? What's wrong with these people?
i am a 19 year old student with 18 credit hours and 2 part time jobs. i am over 4000 dollars in debt but my paychecks are just enough to get me to school and back. next year my plan was to attend a 4 year college and get my bfa, but now i am afraid that without a co-signer i will have no shot at a loan and even if i can get a loan i am afraid that i will leave college with no future and a crippling debt. as a family we are losing our home. my mother lost her job and hasnt been able to find one. we are all living paycheck to paycheck. the stress is taking physical tolls on all of us but i still consider myself one of the lucky ones
we are angry, we are stressed, we are so ****ing tired
we are the 99%

200k a year (plus subsidy) for determining the quality of a student?
Can't people just take some tests?
Yes you learn things that are useful but the problem is how much are you willing to pay to be taught and tested. I really doubt that 40k a year is what its worth. More like 2-3k MAX. I dont think its fair for undergrads to pay for the PhD stipends.

I remember in the JEP two years ago there were two articles discussing education and how 1. The number students wanting to pursue post secondary education had doubled, but the number of seats hadn't increased by any substantial amount
2. How, that competitiveness of admissions to top schools had increased, while the competitiveness of non-selective institutions had decrease
I'm not surprised college tuition has increased by 400% in the states.
Some nice stats about unemployment
1. Unemployment among college educated over 25 is about 4% (historic is about 3%)
2. Unemployment of 20-24 as a whole is below national average which means that unemployment rate is decliningI think a big problem for the post college grad. I graduated in 09, did an M.A. (doctoral stream econ) and found a decent paying job. My friends with I.R/Polisci degrees, worked dead end jobs for a year or more, but eventually found something that lead to a career path. It just took a lot more time than I think people are traditionally expecting.
