I’m considering grad school but I’m not interested of ending up being a glorified teacher. I’m a competent guy unlike many people I know so what are the odds?
Odds of becoming a star professor?

I was the best economics undergrad at my non-flagship state school, I think by some distance.
I went to an MRM school and was mediocre, I'm now tenured at a SLAC. I have pubs, but none of any note whatsoever.
Your feeling of competence conveys no useful information unless you're at an elite undergrad or have connections with elite professors.
