For those who apply for a Ph.D., when most economist and analyst positions are two-year fixed term slots, do the people usually leave after two years?
What are the chances of getting a permanent post after the fixed term contracts?
What are the exit options for those coming with a doctoral degree?
The vast majority of positions is renewed regularly, i.e. one-year contracts are typically renewed every year (unless you do a shitty job). After about 5 years you can start the process of conversion to a permanent position. Note that the Organization is currently changing their whole employment package, meaning that a lot of the current set-up will change with a potential reduction in short-term contracts at the cost of lifetime permanent positions.
