This is helpful. I rather heard that consultancy contracts are great entry points, and most vacancies are for internal or they have already someone in their mind (perhaps a consultant in their team). Do you know what is the internal process to create a vacancy?How many people are shortlisted to the panel interview? After the interview, how long does it take for them to make a decision?That depends on how many posts are being filled, but up to around 10 is probably a fair guess. There is a a lot of bureaucracy involved and it can take several weeks to get all the sign offs needed.
Consultancy contracts are less onerous, but they only get you known. Most of them a very transactional and not an entry point.
Some hires are from the job market if that helps
You would need the agreement of the directors and if it is a new post rather than a reallocation within the directorate authorisation from human resources. Then the stability of funding would matter.
