So your hypothesis is that talent is not uniformly spread across all job market candidates.
After participating in the job market for over 20 years you see a clear pattern. Each year there are about 15 really good JMCs. Unfortunately, you can only identify about 7 or 8 of them, so many schools focus on these candidates. There are also another 15 or 20 each year that look good on paper. Then you talk to them and they seem clueless about their own papers.

How many of these 15 stars will have 10 top 5 or 7 top 3 in 10 years? No more than 3. Most of them will fail tenure and many will become deadwood after tenure. Some candidates who are not considered stars will perform better than them in the long term. No way to tell the quality of rookies. People focus on school names in rookie market to build connections.

What are your manuscript numbers and titles? I am an editor at TAR, happy to check the status for you
Why are TAR and CAR so slow?
are you one of those editors with 2 or 3 top pubs?
There are quite a few curious selections on the Friends of Knechel editorial slate.

Did you find out who is a glorious RA between those 15? Did you interview the "top" superlemons? Who did you interview that didnt know his own paper? stfu, stfu, stfu or give us names and schools they are coming from.

You do not sound rational. I agree there are 15 JMCs with top 3 pubs and there are usually 15 JMCs from top schools each year as well. This has nothing to do with the statement that each there are roughly 15 JMCs that will ultimately be successful nor that many have limited ability to describe their current research. Most of the candidates from the top schools will not ultimately succeed nor will the ones from mid tier or bottom tier schools. My impression is that 20% of the candidates from top schools in any give year will be successful, 10% from the mid tier schools, and at most 5% from the low tier schools. I think of a successful as someone with at least 5 or 6 top 3 articles in their career.
