Ngl, the person that accepted the challenge is savage. If I were the person that created the challenge, I would be a bit embarrassed.
Thanks for the transparency ddac.
ouch!
Almost every Booth grad or AP had at least one JAR pub accepted by advisor, committee member or colleague in the past five years. How anybody would still have doubt over this is beyond me.

What's that a count of five so far.
I have not read these papers. I don't know whether they are any good. But the fact that no one at JAR sees anything wrong with this, and that the practice continues is deeply troubling. So please, can we put a rest to whether their is favoritism.
Pubs can be gifted. Cites are harder to earn. A lot of these are low-cited.
It’s actually better than it used to be because there are a few editors outside Chicago. The journal is at least trying to give the impression of being free of conflicts of interest.

How? If you don’t submit to jar then other people will and more journal space for them.
The outside editors can never be independent. They are either coauthors or students of the Booth faculty, and they can be easily replaced after the term.hmmm
booth exist because of jar, and jar exist because of us. Ditch it and will be gone in two years.

I agree. Please quit submitting papers to JAR and start your own journal.
Now for the rest of us. Lets focus on the interesting job opportunities and rookies in the market this year. Any idea on what is going on with the schools with the research schools with September application deadlines?

From what I've heard, many of the early deadlines are aimed at experienced candidates while review of rookies will come later (see e.g. the Washington posting)

You all call yourselves researchers but fails to examine the degree of favouritism in others journals. Is 5 biased pubs more or less than in other journals? Are you telling me JAE, TAR, and RAST, publishing process is unbiased?
You sound like quite a researcher yourself. What do you think of people who publish in all the journals? Please share your insights.

What makes you think Jar virus has spread to that extent?
