Official Accounting JM Thread 2022
-
This thread is taking a weird turn away from the JM; I think it's mainly due to one poster though.
How's the European JM? Any interesting positions / candidates there? I feel some European candidates placed fairly well in the past few years.78 people in madrid this year, 30 of them being US candidates
Sounds quite a lot actually.

Please help me understand. I came across two job ads from the same university, Northwestern. They have one in accounting and the other one in finance. Why doesn’t the accounting one isn’t encouraging the female and minority candidates to apply? Same school, different rules, and the accounting one is still the black sheep? WTf is going on with accounting?
Finance - https://jobs.chronicle.com/job/389569/assistant-professor-associate-professor-full-professor-finance/?LinkSource=TopJob
Accounting - https://facultyrecruiting.northwestern.edu/apply/MTE2Ng==?_ga=2.259543434.1877921959.1632847916-1506282864.1632847916Can anyone explain this?

AY is doing well so it still depends on the person.
kellogg is a place where rookie careers go to perish
AY is doing well in spite of Kellogg, not because. Look at what he does and who he works with -- GS from HBS (his advisor) is still a bigger factor in his success than anyone or anything at Kellogg.

Just apply or don't apply. No conversation necessary.

Does anyone know what is the forum graduate students discuss abut accounting phd admissions?
I know what you mean. I will ask my students and let you know but the word is spreading faster than you think. We had a 400% drop in admission applications and admitted only one instead of three.
-
Sure. You’re comparing apples and oranges, as the saying goes. One is an application screen (the accounting job) and the other is the finance job posting. If you click from the accounting application screen to the actual job posting, you will see the exact same boilerplate language as in the finance job posting. Mystery solved. You can stop obsessing over it, I hope.

Oh uh. Yes, know I am convinced some accounting academia dont know how to fix accounts which is why they need a network to publish. When you say 100% that is the whole part. So when they had, say 36 applications and now they had 9 appls it means there are 4 times less apps and if one whole part is 100% than 4 parts is 400%. lol

I hope you're trolling. That's a 75% drop.
