Hey guys, rookie here. I heard people say that autumn market is usually for seasoned, while Spring market is more for rookies, is that true? And does that mean the market won't start rolling for rookies until Miami is over / middle December.
Yes, this is generally true, although some rookie recruiting happens in the fall (usually for more teaching-oriented schools).
When you interview depends on your situation. If you have publications or revise and resubmits at good journals, or if you are at a HRM program, you probably should wait for the Miami conference. If you are at a mid- or lower-tier doctoral program or you have a crappy dissertation, you probably should interview in the fall. The fall market is typically less crowded and you will have more opportunity to charm the faculty rather than just presenting your research. I have rarely seen a person from a lower-tier school do better by going to Miami. They usually get ignored and have to scrounge for jobs in the middle of nowhere.
Thank you ae72 for your explanation. May I ask how does the schools in the spring market look like? My target is balance school as I am from a middle-tier school. Cheers.

Fall market is done anyway.

I don’t but isn’t accounting experimental work also part of the accounting field? I have heard of other experimental researchers. How is hiring a nobody a huge win for Cornell?
Do you do experimental work?
Never heard of him.
Uhhh…look at his CV? If you haven’t heard of him it’s more a reflection of how plugged in you are than BW.
