I guess they are considering an offer to SS after the scandal

IDK if any of these are job talks. I know of 3 people doing job talks at INSEAD, and none of them are on this list, so perhaps this is only non-job-talk seminars

SS is an excellent hire
Didn't he just move to UCLA, with tenure? Seems unlikely that his talk is a job talk.
No he has a visiting position. Nobody dared offer tenure right after his blackmail scandal but quite a few places are hoping it will blow over within a year or two.

Why would you hope that...
Probably folks who have personal connections to him, coauthors, etc. And the schools that would like to hire him for his research areas, productivity, etc. E.g., UCLA gave him a visiting position probably in hopes that it would blow over and they would have the inside track to retaining him. Can't imagine everyone there would be happy with the decision though.

SS has been helpful to me several times over the years. I always perceived him as generous.
I read that terrible thread. It does SS too much damage. HS created an untenable situation and PS communicated a threat. SS could have said different things in his email, but he does not deserve this mob justice or to have his career ended.
I'll do it so you don't have to: "thanks SS"

He acted even worse than PS, at least PS had the balls to make the threat. SS just watched and agreed to everything as if what was happening was perfectly reasonable. Like it's completely normal that people get each other a free AER.

Stephan Seiler has only himself to blame. He knows that he did not deserve coauthorship of the AER paper, as he himself admits that when he and Schiraldi started thinking about "their" model, Smith and Thomassen were already working on it.
Seiler deserves what he got, what he and Schiraldi did was disgusting. Still, I personally think it’s fair if he gets another chance. We make mistakes, there are consequences, and I think not getting tenure at Stanford (despite his strong profile) was a big enough consequence. He doesn’t deserve to have his career finished.
Also, why did Thomassen have to wait this long to reveal the bullying? What he did seems more like taking a revenge rather than an interest in or intention to stop the bullies.
