That John Hauser is still placing students - despite being 20 years behind in thinking about problems - is an embarrassment.

All this talk about “top” placements and “stars” always forgets that if you get a job at Stanford, you have to work at Stanford. It’s no longer an abstract concept, but a very real place, where you will probably not make tenure. You’ll spend 7 years of life under constant stress, and your colleagues will be unimpressed with your outputs and your efforts. The field also waits for you to fail and no one feels sorry for you when you do because, “you were at Stanford”. Maybe, the real stars on the market are those people who figure this out and have amazing lives at universities that are happy to have them. Maybe prestige is worthless. Or maybe I’m just soothing myself because Stanford didn’t fly me out.

True, but at prestigious schools, you get a high salary, build an amazing network, work with great co-authors, teach brilliant students. It is not all bad. There is a reason why people want to get jobs at these places. However, it is very true that all of these positives also come with a lot of pressure to perform. You have to be mentally tough to survive.

They are both very pleasant individuals, well-trained, etc. DE has amazing industry connections, does relevant research, and is awesomely smart. TK is producing A papers, but MIT is typically looking for more than numbers, unlike most schools.
DE is the least political man in this business. Trying to kiss no one’s a**, and you can see it from him constantly spotting and publicly shaming people who do BS research.
DE, Dean Eckles? Looks like he does't have marketing papers.
The name of MIT Sloan's Dean is David Schmittlein, not Eckles. Stop spreading misinformation.
Why so angry? Read the post again. I am asking who is DE. Is DE Dean Eckles? I am not asking who the damn Dean of MIT

Are you guys talking about Blaine Eckles, the Dean for Students at University of Idaho?
https://www.uidaho.edu/student-affairs/dean-of-students.aspxI don't think he has any relationship with MIT or their marketing department. Get your facts straight before posting.

If TK did not make mid-review, did DE?
TK did not make it. Informal reason teaching.
DE made it, he is really strong.Come on... DE is good at politics but TK is not

So which marketing professor is DE “constantly spotting and publicly shaming?”

Publicly shaming to try and make others think you are smart is usually a sign of politics...just bad politics.

My experience is the opposite. People are hoping that you will succeed, and are happy and supportive if you are.
Constant pressure to perform is indeed the case though. -

You calm down, bro. You wasted so many posts just to defend your bad joke (or was it a joke?). Even Googled some innocent guy from Idaho to publicly shame a name? What's wrong with you?
