I agree with this. Too much overreaction to this one. Reading a JMP is just a friendly helpful gesture. There is no requirement that friendly gestures be offered equally to everyone.
If Sahm had reached out to Michigan JMCs, to advisees of friends, to JMCs with research closely related to hers, etc, there would have been no objection. People can define the teams they are on however they want and informally help their team members out. If one of the groups she wants to identify with is female economists, that is not really anyone else's business.
