People only went to OSU because it meant coauthoring for life with Rene as a glorified RA. A free ticket to A pubs (and tenure) for quite a few folks. Rene is almost retired, so the value proposition is gone.

OSU has a handful of great guys - ZBD for mutual fund and real estate, MW for corporate, KH and LZ for asset pricing. Pretty solid mix

Insider here - IE and ZBD aren't going anywhere, at least in the near future, they could get great jobs anytime they want and have declined a number of excellent offers.
And the placements could (should?) have been much better; one student really wanted to go to a hedge fund and another (her husband) really wanted to be in NYC. Both could have placed at schools that people on this website would have been impressed by and actually cancelled very good jobs talks when they took their offers.
