Any insights? Pay, teaching loads, research conditions?
I’d be very careful with EDC Paris Business School (former EDC) because of the school’s director of research: Jean-Pierre Helfer. He and Jean Charroin, the director of ESSCA School of Management today, were the masterminds behind one of the most disastrous experiences in business school reforms in France.
They’re unscrupulous managers seeking fame and they’re crazy about rankings. Their aggressive plan to reform EDC Paris Business School wiped out the research capabilities of the school, kicking valuable academics out and bringing EDC Paris Business School to a record low in terms of everything. The school almost went out of business.
Jean-Pierre is an elder man who likes to collect positions, holding at the same time the position of director of research of Excelia Business School (former La Rochelle Business School).
These schools have changed their names because their old brands suffered from the mis-management of these people. Mark my words: these schools may come under different names again by the end of the decade.

he wrote a book called "heretic economics" in which he, how original, claims to be fighting the mainstream doxa.
A big difference between him and most of his TV colleague is that he actually publishes. Not in top journals, but in semi-decent outlets such as energy economics.
your superstar colleague will be a guy called thomas, very left wing, always trying to be on tv. But not even piketty.

We fired J-P Helfer and J Charroin from Audencia but unfortunately it didn't put an end to their careers. They keep doing a lot of damage to the profession.
Je confirme.

This guy, JP Helfer wrote his last article 20 years ago, when one of his friend was the editor of a French Journal. Why would EDC hire him as research director? Research director knows nothing about how to do research?
As well as La Rochelle Business School.
Excelia Business School now. As someone said:
'These schools have changed their names because their old brands suffered from the mis-management of these people.'

When an old man who has never written and published a single paper in a highly ranked journal but calls himself a research director, that school is already dead. What is wrong with the French? Is France a developing country? That salary is unbelievably low. French brothers, come to Hong Kong, you can easily get 120K Euros per year plus additional research funding and housing support.
