No. We are blaming the corruption, bias, racism in everything this profession does (not) have to offer. We are also blaming the superf'ing lemons who steal our jobs. We are blaming journals, editors and connections based pubs. In poor words the whole f/ing system.

Is the accounting phd worth?
IMHO, NO.
Having lost 5 to 6 years in the program you have lost a lot of money working as a CPA and you are locked up in smth you cannot use outside of the academia. This is the most important thing to consider. You are locked up and they own you. The system will play with you the way they want and you have no choice but decide to throw away your human and professional investment for nothing. That means you cannot just raise you finger and tell them you got other options. You dont! Remember that all the time.
In addition to the above you should consider also:
1. No jobs
2. No good jobs.
3. A lot of corruption, racism, bias, network in placement.
4. A lot of corruption, racism, bias, network in publication.
5. No tenure.
6. You will end up in the middle of nowhere.
7. Why all of the above? -
Did you not know that universities are pretty isolated geographically. I swear the people in this thread are idiots. No wonder you are complaining about not being able to get a job. My department would never hire you based on the level of intelligence displayed here.

7. Why all of the above?My experience with the accounting phd program was so arduous. Many things have happened that I will never forget.
I have a growing disillusionment and my view of this profession has shifted, dramatically, in the most negative way. I have very bad memories about my school and I said to a friend I don’t want to go back there for my whole life!. I got traumatized!
In this profession, not only you will find stalwart nationalists "serving" like dep chiefs, editors, director of the program, dean and ass. dean, etc, but you will also find racists who only skirmish "smile" at your face wishing you never set foot in this country.

On the market for accounting prof this year, any field. Got 40 applicants. Find me any other discipline with such low number of applicants and I’ll agree with you its a shitty job market in accounting.
All the bias talk is a given, same as all other business fields. It just artifact of living in 'Merica.
