Queens is the Toronto of Canada

The Queens is dead. move on. theres only 3 real schools in canada now, UT, UBC, UWO.
Why do you think that? Is there something that I am missing? They have funding problems, but so do a lot of places. However, they haven't lost any major faculty. I don't see how funding that effects faculty hiring influences the short run quality of their program. Its pretty well known that they invest a lot more into students than the other three places. Their average placement record is better than UBC or U of T. They have produced some people that could be called stars.
For the record, I'm not affiliated with Queens.

Queen's is still great for macro and theoretical metrics, with the top people still publishing in top 5 journals. Too bad for people in the other fields.

I just want to remind Queen's students of what happened to UofT last year. They kept trolling on EJMR instead of working on their JMPs and well you have seen the results. Go back to your JMPS and remember that none of the hiring decisions are based on EJMR trolls.

I believe you. Maybe.I have one degree from Canada, and its at one of the better universities with supposedly better economics department.
reduced form applied econometrics core is gone. Imai is gone next January, having taken a position in Australia. Casey Warman is gone. Charles Beach retired. There have been other losses. There are about a dozen students (if not more) that only do reduced form stuff and they literally have nobody to supervise them in the department.

I didn't realize they had any strengths in applied econometrics. I always viewed them as an Macro/Econometrics Theory place. If I was studying mainstream macro, I'd probably pick queens over other places in Canada. Their macro candidates seem to be stronger on average than UBCs and U of Ts.
