“How often do you google ‘ejmr Robert Taylor’ to check if someone’s been chatting about you”
Daily, same as everyone else. Obv.
Ps I heard Renault earns 250K at Warwick.
What a liar. Let's make the discussion serious. Who lies about income, whose family die.

Only Warwick can pay this salary and research allowance. Otherwise your family die for sure.

SL in the south east. Monthly figures
Income after tax and pension deductions: £3300
Rent: £1100
Council Tax: £150
Bills: £100
Food: £150
Commuting: £200Food £150? That's only £5 a day or 1 pound 60p a meal. What kind of "food" do you eat?
UK bro here. The food budget is implausibly low. Commuting may also be much higher than that if you live somewhere nice (i.e. outside the M25) and commute to London. At least it used to be before the WFH revolution. This is of course assuming you don't own a car. If you do you could easily subtract another 1000 for that just for lease, servicing, parking, and fuel. 500 if you own the car.
It was actually me that posted these numbers and I don't think they are too low. We spend 60-70 per week on food for a two adult household. We don't eat out and cook from fresh ingredients. Bear in mind that breakfast = a bowl of cereal, and lunch = some bread rolls, fruit and a packet of crisps. Those meals together cost no more than £1.50 in ingredients. Most of the money goes on the evening meal where £6-8 easily gets some meat/pasta/veg to make something nice. People who think £150 per month is too little to feed an adult clearly don't know how to take care of themselves.
200 per month on commuting is between two nearby SE towns. I agree that if you are going in to London then you need to budget more (perhaps 5k per year). But if you are an economist in London then you probably earn much than 5k extra over someone outside London.
Here's a pretty typical daily menu consistent with this using current prices from Tesco:
Cereal £0.11 (£0.83/7)
Milk £0.35 (6 pints per week @ £1.15/pint)
Bread rolls x 2 £0.50
Packet of crisps £0.16 (assuming buying a multipack)#
Apple £0.16
Two satsumas £0.16
A serving of pasta $0.09
A chicken breast £0.95
Creme fraice £0.55
A serving of mushrooms £0.50
A serving of leek £0.45
Four cups of tea £0.05
A serving of yoghurt £0.30
Some fresh berries in the yoghurt £0.75
