Research in this profession
-
The research is fine. The average finance paper is much more meaningful than the average mathematics or physics paper.
Physics papers are fine.
STEM tenured position is extremely difficult
Even you have 5 top pubs nature just ending in post docsnot a good comparison.
Post docs with 5 top pubs can be normal in STEM.
A friend of mine who is in STEM has published 30+ papers including Nature, but still in post docs.
The thing is that the publication of research in his area is much easier and faster than finance because they are doing something "real."
It is difficult to reject papers with new findings(real results) in their area unless you spot the research process is something wrong.Sometimes it is annoying to talk these things with my friend. He assumes professors in my profession are lazy(in terms of numbers of publication), produce credulous research, or not intelligent enough(in terms of the rejection rate).
