I would love WFH if I could afford a big house. Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment. It would be perfect if classes were online forever, so that I could move to a cheaper country.

What environment sounds better for focused, cognitively challenging work like software engineering often can be:
- private room with a work station tailored to your personal comfort, with a kitchen stocked full of healthy food you enjoy and the ability to take a walk in your garden on breaks
- large open office floor plans with marketing bros shouting and people tapping you in the shoulder every hour asking you where the DB credentials are stored
-
I just quite my in-office software job for a 100% remote one. It's a major quality of life improvement.
No more alarm clock, no more commute, no more dirty or busy toilets, no more high rent near the city center.
I'm never f'cking going back to any office. For some reason I get sick being at home whole day. Something is wrong with my body

Our company tried that and everyone started quitting
Good luck quitting when there is layoff everywhere
lol you think we care? most of us wouldn't mind getting getting laid off if the alternative was returning. wfh has changed the view of work and career in everyone's minds. get used to that, boomer boss.

WFH is being scaled back at our uni because too many staff are unavailable for long stretches of time when they WFH.
It’s also a pain because instead of swinging by their office when you need something you have to send an email, wait for a response, and then set up a Zoom meeting.
People are grousing but nobody other than some of the tech people are quitting.
I think everyone knows that this is just a scam to allow people to work < 40 hours but get paid for 40. Perhaps it’s a way to compensate for wage increases that are falling farther and farther behind inflation?
