Maybe the hate comes from the fact that he is a sociopath who regularly addresses others with contempt and nastiness. There are many economists who are far better than he is who feels no need to be as***es. I am sure he is professionally super, but that does not justify his attitude. Not even Heckman is as unpleasant.
