Other than the fact that disaffected voters in areas with industrial decline who are willing to tolerate heavier government action if it directly benefits them were instrumental in breaking down old center-left coalitions in both countries, they are very different animals. Trump is an idiosyncratic and inexperienced political character that has little political philosophy behind him and seems to view governing as performance. Johnson comes from a long tradition in the conservative party and has a lot of institutional experience.</blockquote>
