Wondering why would someone would say "pretend a statement"? The answer is, they are Italian with a weak command of English, like a certain carrier pigeon:

It's really interesting to see how the trolls hired by PS/SS have been trying to redefine the narrative here.
The tactics we have seen so far include (in roughly this order):
- Insert lies: (1) "PS/SS were the ones who developed the model and OT/HS copied it." (2) "OT/HS came up with the model but PS/SS contributed later." (3) "PS/SS and OT/HS came up with the model independently."
- Portray perpetrators as victims ("The real bad guy is HS while PS/SS are just powerless victims")
- Shift norms ("What happened may have been unethical but it wasn't illegal")
- Intimidation (pose as lawyers and insinuate that OT's disclosure of the affair got him into a huge legal mess)
- Name-calling ("Oyfart," etc.)
- Suggest futility ("OT is an inconsequential LRM ... people who care don't matter and people who matter don't care")
- Revise history ("OT initially offered coauthorship in reverse alphabetical order and that's what happened in the end, so there was no extortion")
- Discredit the victim ("OT is an obsessive-compulsive psycho who needs help")
- Muddy the waters ("Nobody looks good in all of this;" "PS/SS may not have been ethical but OT is also to blame")
The two bullies ordered the works. Must have cost them a bundle already. Can't wait to see where they take it next.

- Blame the victim for being a victim ("OT didn't have the guts to stand up to PS/SS and now he's complaining on social media. What a joke.")
- Portray victim as perpetrator (going public = "backstabbing")
- Make libelous claims about someone's private life ("OT is ghey", "OT had gender reassignment surgery in Korea")

- Repeated spams on the line of cut and paste every page "I seriously think that it makes no sense to follow the idiosyncratic thinking of some anonymous `screamers'. I won't post here any longer."
- Write absurd assertions about the AER changing the name of authors or LSE firing PS. Then use the existence of these absurd assertions to try to muddy the waters "OT is a pathological liar"

I wouldn't call this thread harassment. But you know what I would call harassment? Bullying an AP up for tenure by trying (and failing) to smooth talk your way to coauthorship by repeatedly lying about how you created the model (when you did not), and then standing aside while your co-conspirator threatens to blackmail the AP.

I have been posting here some interesting and inoffensive remarks, and someone systematically cancelled them. This is unfair, it is not right to silence a moderate voice, and this behaviour shows the biaseness of this forum. Who is censuring this forum? Do you have the courage to write your name? I bet you don't!
If a positive comment like mine is censured, I am not going to contribute or read this discussion.
