taxes are very low in Lithuania, and they have a flat tax.
I interviewed with their CEFER centre at the AEA. They claimed that this position has no policy work and optional teaching, so 3k/month is not too bad for pure research time. Funding for conference travel also good. The guys they hired two years ago (PG, MW) managed to be reasonably productive and based on their pubs/R&Rs should have no issues with exit.
