He pretends to be a macro star on twitter
Did they hire Bilbiie in part because of the ReStud R&R which has since been rejected, but which he has inexplicably kept on his website (despite updating the website since then)? That is a strange dude.

AM to Minneapolis Fed
Riding AW's diversity train to a nice job.
Heard from insider horrible things about the now woke Minneapolis Fed. Post pandemic, they hired 6 permanent economists with a budget north of $1.4M and a publication record of ... 0 top 5s and 7 field journals (total across all 6 economists). A relevant statistic is that 0/6 economists are wh*te m*n, so the hires were d*vers*ty. President directly makes the hires, so no input from stuff economists.

This is actually true. His R&R at ReStud got rejected, he didn't update his website, and instead he sent in a desperate appeal trying to overturn the rejection. The appeal actually kind of worked, in that he got his R&R back, so good for him I guess.
In general, he is the king of whiny appeals on rejections of bad papers. Also whiny emails if he thinks he's not getting the right citations.

Oh, and I forgot, it's hilarious how many downvotes the original (true) claim about Bilbiie not updating his website after his paper was rejected got. He is totally the kind of person who would go crazy about this and do a bunch of downvotes by proxy or something.

Seriously, I like and respect Bilbiie, but never understood why that paper was ever rr in REStud. It is a clever simplification of the HANK model to become solvable on close form. It is great teaching material, maybe the backbone model for a book, but never a novel contribution that could go to any academic journal.
