Being an associate editor at AER definitely helps. More importantly, her coauthors happen to be editors of AER and ECMA. Nice!

I'm also puzzled by the fact that she got tenure at Caltech in 2008, with only one top five, and the rest of her publications being rather uninteresting.
I don't think she had a top 5 before getting tenured. She had a couple of field pubs. That's it. I am really curious how she got tenured at Caltech. And now she has an offer from Princeton. Princeton dinosaurs must be really desperate to replace the people they are losing.
