The school needs to be taken into account. Right now, at Chicago, zero fifth years are on the academic market (out of an incoming class of ~40). I don't know why, but 6/7 years here has just become normal.It's normal because 1/2 extra years improve a lot the JMP, and there is no weighting on the market on how many years you needed. Very inefficient equilibrium.
Yeah, but I feel like other schools produce quite a few good fifth year candidates. Even booth send out a good number of fifth years.
