Many European cities like Rome and London are teaming with 3+ kid families?
Families with 4 kids or more are in general rather uncommon in Europe. But to the extent that they exist, they are not avoiding cities. Families with 2-3 kids are very common in European cities.
Imagine taking children to school 2 miles away on your multi-passenger bicycle.

Anyway, why would the school be 2 miles away? If you live in a civilized country with good public schools, you just go to the closest neighborhood school which in a city is rarely more than a kilometer away. Highschools can be a bit further, but by then kids are old enough to bike themselves or take a bus.
