   Lotta “urban youths” in the south. Gotta avoid them

   Define city. Mine would give me away. Upper midwestern cities are walkable and have families with 3+ kids, also plenty of Canadian examples. You can't access every service within walking distance (if you shop at Wal Mart you will need a car), but you can get by shopping local and with an occasional bus or car trip.
   Cities in the South (especially Texas) are notoriously unwalkable, most do not even have suburbs and have 6 lane roads with 45 mph/70 km/h speed limits where the big-box stores are.

   And why were cities in the south the least likely to invest in public transportation and walkable cities. (Hint: r a c i s m).

However, I have 3+ kids and have spent at least one week in 8 out of the 11 cities you happen to have listed, and I can't recall seeing a single 3+ child native family even once! And I would certainly have noticed. If these cities are so great for families... why aren't there any?

   In fact, I myself live in one of the walkable-ish American cities mentioned above, and in my walkable area I'm struck by how pro-bugman, pro-"doggo" the whole vibe is. It's like people are allergic to family life and it's all very sterile feeling. Such a shame, because we've eschewed suburban life ourselves, preferring a city. But to OP's point, it's apparently not as compelling for most people.

   Name the cities then or stop wasting our time

   I know plenty in Philly. 2010-2018 it was actually a nice city to live in with a family. Not anymore unfortunately.

   In the US, this is undeniably the reason people with families can't generally live in cities. Euros, please don't criticize this concept until you have actually had to live with certain demographics. You simply can't begin to understand.

   I live on a city similar to the ones listed and see families with 3 and even 4 kids frequently. Above is very rare though.

   Note however that visitors/tourists generally don’t stay in the residential quarters, bit in business quarters or the historical center. That’s indeed not exactly an area where you’ll find big families.

   Plenty of 3+ kid families in Boulder Colorado, Missoula Montana, Asheville NC, Washington DC

    Mind you I think the median HHI at my church is probably about 450k

    It seems that most people who are posting here and saying you have to live in the suburbs or exurbs with a larger family are from places, mostly in the southern U.S., without mixed commercial/residential areas, smaller stores, sidewalks, parks, and reliable public safety.

    I drive between the deep south and upper midwest often. The first few times I was taken aback (and pleasantly surprised, almost brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes) to see younger kids, unsupervised, biking and walking around small city centers. The difference was apparent as soon as I crossed north into Iowa (I-35) or Illinois (I-57). Below that was a hot hellscape with few people on the street.

    The thing here is that OP is arguing it doesn’t exist. Relaxing things a bit, they’re saying people don’t want it. All the examples I provided are examples where it exists and people will pay a massive premium to have it. I think generally speaking walkable cities should be more accessible to the entire income spectrum, but they’re very desirable and supply is constrained
