Data and running regressions? Seems boring to me now
So the rest of our lives is just going to be downloading

thank god i switch to critical theoryWell, one afternoon, after I had again spent countless hours trying to get significant coefficients without success, I went over to the soc department and walked into a random prof's office.
"I am not sure about spending the rest of my life downloading data and running regressions. It seems boring to me now."
He said: "What do you want instead?"
"I am looking for meaning in life. Something that satisfies me. Something that makes me proud." I replied.
He shook his head: "You are looking for a self-supporting whole. You are s**t out of luck, son. The world is not what it seems once you begin to deconstuct it. Or once you hit reg y x, for that matter. Better stick with what you have."
I looked at him for several seconds. Then I said this:
"But Derrida uses the term ‘structuralist deconstruction’ to denote a self-supporting whole. And Buxton suggests that we have to choose between submodern narrative and postdialectic narrative. If one examines submodern narrative, one is faced with a choice: either reject Debordist image or conclude that the task of the poet is deconstruction. Therefore, the subject is contextualised into a modernism that includes truth as a reality. The premise of submodern narrative implies that expression comes from communication."
He accepted me to the sociology PhD program with full funding on the spot. This was four years ago. I am on the market now and have solicitations from Arby's and Subway already.

running regressions is better than just thinking about stuff and writing about ideas?

yes, this makes me want to kill myslef. gd these programs not having options for different data formats. When people ask me what I study, i usually say that i am a top scholar in variable recoding
It's the data cleaning that is the real killer.
