I feel when there is a large protest, videos and picture go viral and cause even apathetic people to take notice. I think this type of pressure actually does work

go virus means people talking about it for five minute at this age and the next big news come people shift attention. Counting on the international community is fultl. The best thing that can happen is the Congress revoke the status, but that would just put a more rapid death to the city.
Perhaps a more useful way is to engage with local politicis, start with small and shy away from the extreme side of the spectrum. The non-spliting in the movement was a dumb call.
