   That's not what I wrote at all. The point of the post was to point out that our societal incentives for hard work have been hollowed out for single men. There is no longer a strong incentive structure to work hard to acquire wealth to attract a woman. In the long run this will have major negative consequences like mass loneliness, b1tterness, and economic stagnation as many average looking single men give up on working hard to find a woman while others will downshift their career effort to focus on improving and preserving their looks.

   Would be an interesting paper

   Loose div0rce laws also reduce the incentive to "get rich". Let's say you take a high stress, long hours job to get rich to attract a woman, sacrificing some body attractiveness in the process. There is now a major credible commitment problem. A woman could marry you, stay with you for a little while and then div0rce to go be with a h0tter but less financially successful man, taking a large portions of your assets in the process and leaving you single again. This could be partially mitigated through prenups, but these are lab0rious to enter into, negatively signal to your prospective wife that you don't really trust her, and are inconsistently enforced by the courts and significantly vary state-by-state. A forward thinking single man realizes all of this, reducing the incentive to get rich.

   We use staggered adoption of laws increasing enforceability of prenups as an exogenous shock to test ….

   Just move away from North America, folks. There are 4 billion women in the world. Obesity and femail jobs limit supply too much in North America.
