I get an ego boost knowing that I actually code instead of actual typing
The main reason I prefer LaTeX over word

There are five types of Word users.
1) star professors who are 50+
2)younger star professors who don't give a sh*t
3) old and borderline deadwood professors
4) glorified RAs to the star professors
5) people under 50 too dumb to learn LatexEveryone else uses Latex. Their research is of varying quality but miles better than the people in the fifth category.

How can you produce a document of more than minimal complexity in word? And make it doesn't look like shiite? Maybe it is possible, but so is reg y x using Excel and nobody does that either. At some point you need to use a professional system, and for typesetting this system is LaTeX.

Tables and graphs are a lot better in word, LaTex might have the upper hand in terms of equations, but Word equation editor is pretty good and allows you to type laTex style. If you can't create paragraphs, references, titles or documents beyond 'minimal complexity' in word then perhaps your Word skills just suck?

Quite retarded

Why the downvotes? It's a fact.

Yet, 85% of academics use Word. At the end of the day your article will look good once accepted following journal's style.
