The Taco Truck Delusion [Unpaywalled!]

Good article. I lived in Mexico for four years, in Tijuana. What I would say is Mexicans change their behaviour when they cross into the US. As all good economists would assume, they are responding to incentives. Traffic lights are no longer merely a suggestion, and dogs are better cared for. The more intelligent Mexicans recognise this and they are angry with their fellow Mexicans about it.
Mexico is of course a failed state, and standard operating procedure for Mexicans is to blame, who else, Americans for that. As someone who was pulled over at least 7 or 8 times by the police wanting bribes, I know who I blame.

bump
It’s 4 am ET. For an article obviously written to appeal to yte basement dwellers you’ll want to bump it about 6 hours from now
why do you spell "white" as "yte" ?
because the list of words that cause auto delete change from time to time and “white” is usually on the list. I know you know this since you’ve been here for at least a couple years, so why do you ask?

How would Little Karlito know?
He spent 6 months in a Mexican tourist town. That was enough expertise for him to get paid $100 to write about it for a conservative mag.
This isn’t about conveying an accurate image of Mexico or anything else. It’s about an unemployed Canadian earning $100.
Mexico City is safer, cleaner and less congested than Los Angeles
I saw whole families walking downtown
Obviously they have an organized crime problem, but we have homeless and gang problems
