Here is a fine example from last year
MIT BS + Stanford PhD + 2 publications => Southern Baptist University

https://www.sbuniv.edu/academics/faculty/delong-meng.phpYou and the others commenting on an individual who, for whatever reason, wasn't placed as high as expected, are certainly exactly what is wrong with this profession.
You guys are probably on the market this or next year praying for a position like that. -

Transfer Pricing is your best bet as a mediocre theorist.
Mediocre theorist here
I had one AP job offer in a s**tty country four years ago and ended up accepting a transfer pricing job at a major city in the US. The job is not as bad as people here described. I’m earning 250k a year including bonus and working around 9-10 hours a day. The job is somewhat interesting and not very stressful. And there are always opportunities to move up and earn more money if you are willing to work hard. It’s not a bad backup option.

Science is falsifiable theory: so reg monkeys are not scientists.
No one looks down on theorists, everyone looks down on reg monkeys
false, real scientists like econometrically proficient, honest reg monkeys
they dislike irrelevant model builders, working with unobservable fundamentals -

Scientific statements are falsifiable statements. But not all science is theoretical. Be respectful. Theorybro
