The person who wrote that meant ECON/AGECON department (it happens on EJMR all the time that Econ people mistakenly comment on finance discussions).
Finance group at NC State is perfectly normalEven if they mean econ or ag econ, it's clear they don't know what they are talking about. The department is good, has strong people who work well together.

It's not helpful that the director is a guy who has the weakest academic cv, poorest social skills, a history of managerial failure, inferiority complex, dictatorial tendencies, and he consistently pushes down the student quality requirements.
