   what about ECB sport facilities during covid? can you go?

   No

   Guys which one is better: Johan Wolgang living hotel or apartment residenz? Is wifi signal working properly in these residences? Otherwise remote working would be hard!

   Both are generally decent but unless you get one of the apartment residenz in the city centre, westend or sachsenhausen (not the ones quoted above) I'd opt for the johan wolfgang one (also called derag).
   One word of advice: just stay clear of the achat living hotel close to the ECB.

   Yes. It's directly connected to the subway and s-bahn stations and Sachsenhausen is a nice area.

   So I gathered that completing the traineeship means that you won’t be getting an offer to stay, but does it actually help on the CV? Does it help you landing a job elsewhere later? (Depending on which division of course)
   Also, is there a cooling off for trainees?

   Insider here. There is a massive difference across groups. If your intention is to do a PhD and be exposed to research, and get good letters, the research group i the best place at the ECB. SSM would be the opposite. Economics and financial stability somewhere in the middle.

    The only way to get a fixed position is to win a campaign (not easy not impossible, it depends on several factors). Regarding your first question, you have to work, hopefully properly, and this will surely increase the chances to get a short-term position ad the end of your traineeship.

    Is it possible to ask ECB data for studying purposes?

    If you do well in your traineeship and your division has need and resources, you would usually get a short term contract after your traineeship, which is very well paid since they pay in cash what full time employees get in pension contributions. After that, the only way to get in full time is to win a campaign. In the past there were many campaigns, especially since the SSM was established (as they had to fill lots of new positions).

    Problem now is that the ECB has stopped growing (headcount is capped) and there is a new HR framework which gives priority to horizontal mobility and thus drastically reduces the number of positions for which there will be new campaigns.

    Same experience here! Even though I am happy I was placed in at least one reserve list in July for a position I am very interested in, I am not sure if I have still any chances of being offered a traineeship. Very discouraged of being unsuccessful with my other applications for similar roles. My take is that each department offering a traineeship forms a ‘selection committee’ which evaluates the applicants and decides on the outcome.

    Although it seems a bit odd that applications in very similar form and from the same applicant all get rejected after the first one resulting in the reserve list. I felt as if they were telling me 'there's no point in trying again, we made a decision already'.

    ^They typically are. (Insider here.) If your profile is overall competitive you have a good chance of being hired from the reserve list. The main advantage of the reserve list is that I can hire those on it without going through a lengthy process. I would typically look at the CV and reach out to some of my colleagues who have talked to the candidate during the process for some general feedback and if all sounds good I will set up an interview.
