What division did you guys apply for at DG-MPS IV? Any lawyers here who applied as well?
Traineeship at the ECB

I'm a physics PhD, applied for Risk Management, Internal Models, Methods & Standards Dev.
I hated the video thingy, but hey, I've got a quantitative Ph.D. from a top 3 university, so I guess that might help? Does anybody have an idea how many people went into this round, how many might survive or how many trainees they hire in each division?

It's a web app in which they record you answering four or five questions about the ECB, SSM and your competences, each limited to about 2 - 3 minutes answer time.
I see everyone talking about a video thing, I seem to have applied before they rolled out this method (January)? How exactly does it work? To physics guy: no clue, but good luck.

... which I thought was pretty awkward (and distracting) given the lack of real eye contact and the need stare directly into the webcam throughout the recording.

No, only the automated email after the interview. I've also applied to DG MPS I, II, and III as well and haven't received any news from them so far. The deadline was about two weeks ago.
Anyone has got an e-mail after per record ed interview?!? Both positive and negative.

this web app is going to be used for the applications in Microprud. II,III,I as well the deadline being two weeks ago?i had some interviews with the ecb before but they sticked to the interview...is it an SSM thing?
you also mention that the questions are related to th ECB SSM like technical questions (i applied as a lawyer) but i was expecting more HR questions to be honest -
I've applied to the SSM as a lawyer as well. The technical questions were only about the general nature of the SSM, so it was pretty easy to answer just by reading some recent journal articles and looking at the ECB's website beforehand. I hope this was just a screening exercise, since there are some issues (such as the start of the traineeship) which imo can only be discussed in a real interview.

Did you ever look down on your notes? Why would they give you prep time, if you're not supposed to look down, then again looking down was probably the most distracting thing and actually tripped me up.

I presume that this system is here to stay. The advantage for HR is that they do not have to find a schedule that matches all candidates and interviewers to all available time slots. So this way, everybody records at their own time and they watch one after another without being worried about having to call the next candidate in 3 minutes, people who don't pick up the phone or simply the task of arranging them in the first place.
I wonder how many applicants per job they'll advance to the next round. Am I wrong in presuming that it'd be the final round, I mean the announcement said "ideally starting 1 April".

Could be. Looks like the SSM really needs some trainees at the moment. I think it's its first or second trainee intake since November 2014.

I dont think so. Technical interview is fundamental for them.So i think that it's not final round

Since there are inter alia economists, lawyers and compsci grads applying I believe that that interview will be with staff from one of the different divisions you've applied, about topics that fall within the responsibilities of those divisions.
I meant that the next (non-web) interview could be the last. What do they ask at technical interviews? Is that like a programming test?

ok thx!but youmust have applied for the IV not the I,II and III because the deadline was some weeks ago...otherwise they are really fast..

They told me that the process would take around 3 weeks, so I guess decisions should be made soon. What did they tell you?
The final decision for Phd level should rise around 3 weeks after the phone-interview… But for Graduate level the final decision should arrive the next week.
