400 20 9 applications! 0.23% chance of getting that job.
Can we stop pretending the AEA was telling the truth?! There is a massive oversupply this year!
Definitely not lying. I know other Canadian schools that receive more.
We get 100% of the Canadian applicants, massive number of American and then a lot of European/Asian who say they don't want to go to the US but would love to live in Canada.
I don't either. That would mean 1/4 Econ PhDs globally are applying to you (including seniors on the market).
We usually receive 600 to 700 hundred for a position and we are a cr appy Canadian school.I don’t believe you
Well if we are counting all Canadians you have at least 10 applications

Naw, get 40 to 50 Canadian applicants. Most are new grads but get a lot of sessionals and a handful of government workers.
We are in a much better location than Albany (no offense to Albany but...)...

Actually, trying to remember, we get more Canadians applications than 40 to 50 but half are definite nos. There are something like 15 to 20 PhD programs in Canada. Some only graduate 1 to 3 students a year, while others, like UBC and Toronto have closer to 10ish. And then get another group trying to get permanent jobs, move from Gov or come back from the US or elsewhere.

Lol, those Yuros are disillusioned. The US strictly dominates Canada.
