Can we report here new observations about salaries offered to fresh PhDs in the UK?
The point is that it is now quite heterogeneous. LSE apparently pays >80k, UCL more than 70, Warwick more than 60. Oxford now appoints direct to Associate Prof and pays ? >60. Cambridge recently increased its pay.
Other schools further from London still pay on scale, ie about 40-45.
Surprisingly I have heard that Birkbeck even pay less than 40.
Any news about RHUL, QMUL, Essex? Others?
