What's the pay for youngsters and/or mid-career types? Are they authorized to pay above scale?

If you are working in fine University in Canada, you could easily go back to UK.
Edinburgh is a great university and a brilliant city. Wish I had moved there 15 years ago when I had a chance. Went to Canada instead and now stuck.

This is true. Edinburgh hired an AP from Calgary this year.

Wasn't Edinburgh the place where HR would call you at your desk to check if you were there in person (a requirement, apparently)? I gave a talk at another Scottish uni a few years ago, and they were worried about this catching on.

They should explain that is what they do in every job market interview. It would be funny to video the candidate reactions.

Maybe they changed since then? But anyway, that told me a lot about the relationship management-faculty. I like to complain about my dean, but that's something else altogether.
