   So where did he go?

   Sarin is gone? Thats too bad, nice guy with multiple top 5s and jets will be a miss. Also wasn’t his wife the department chair lady who does experiments so what us the backstory here anyone?

   I was just looking at their faculty list and saw they lost both of their senior theorists (Kelsey and Sarin) anybody know what happened? Are they getting out of theory altogether or will they hire?

   Reflects poisonous atmosphere. They will hire anyone with good pubs or the promise of them.
   

   Ask members of faculty any one the following:
   how many times they saw him in the past five years
   How many papers he published
   How many classes he missed
   How many times more he got paid than them

   This just shows that Exeter is a horrible place to work. Can this happen in a serious department?

   We lost a great candidate against them. We offered something like 1.5 ukap for lectureships. They somehow manage to offer more than 3 ukap

   The department is nice enough. The problem is that you have juniors who are very unproductive. E.g., Meraglia has only 2 publications almost 10 years out. You need to weed them out and hire better juniors to grow as a department.

    The HOD and her husband are sinking in the toxic pond that helped to create. Quite a lot of people suffered from their selfishness. I'm sorry for those who work at Exeter butI don't think she will be able to get another job in the UK.

    Some bitter people in this thread. I don't know much about the internal politics of Exeter. But I do know the HoD and she has a good publication record and actually is a strong researcher. I had a quick look at some recent hires in Exeter and found them quite solid relative to Exeter's rank as a department.

    One of the above accusations is that they pay juniors too much! I thought it was well established on this board that starting lecturers in the UK had to be paid £37k. So clearly this offer of £70k did not happen.

    I don't know anything about Exeter but I can state as a fact that starting lecturers in the UK do not have to be paid £37k despite what various posters on EJMR may say.
