That's good to hear. But what about the "restructuring" and other indicators of financial ruin? Is Exeter doing worse than other UK unis, or about the same? Where do you see it in 5-10 years?
By “restructuring” do you mean eg when they abolished the chemistry department? As far as I can tell, the university has been upward trending since they started getting rid of departments that couldn’t compete with those at other Russell group schools
My understanding from reading an article a couple months ago was that they consolidated a bunch of schools, to consolidate admin and deans (a good thing), but also to diminish offerings (not so healthy). I don't remember what the names of the schools were, but essentially it would be like the School of Public Affairs and the School of Business and Economics merging into one division.

My impression was it was largely a response to the incentives in place in the UK: there are no “general Ed” requirements so focus on having offerings for a more selective set of majors they can be competitive on. After they reduce the number of majors they can consolidate.

Sad to say it but moving resources away from Econ seems to be a good strategy as we publish few papers, get few grants and are expensive.
