Karolyi was very bad, both in cronyism and competence. I’m at a school that’s a peer to his, and he couldn’t be bothered to even read the complete referee reports, much less the paper. Ok, fair enough, mr editor, that’s your right. But then don’t give advice while admitting you don’t know what the referee is basing a comment on, because you don’t understand it in the context of the paper. Just admit you don’t care about people outside your circle.
