   This in turn has reduced incentives to escape poverty and thus more people who are poor just because they are lazy.
   In asian societies it is seen much more as a personal responsibility to make sth out of oneself, so they have a lot less problems with "voluntary" poverty than the US. As a result being poor there might actually be less likely ones own fault.

   The incentives are pretty darn big in parts of US society yet poverty is still prevalent. Seems maybe poor people aren't just lazy after all...

   Since intelligence is largely (but not completely) heritable, poor stupid people tend to have poor stupid kids that grow up into poor stupid adults and so on and so forth.

   So then it's not their fault? So why should people who were unfortunate enough to be born stupid be treated differently/hated more than people who were born with some other genetic malediction or disability?

   I have spent enough time around poor people to recognize that they can be good or bad and frankly it is declasse to hate people because they aren't as well off as you. You rarely see that sort of thing from the genuinely wealthy.

   Unfortunately, that's just not true. Even the genuinely wealthy seriously hate the rich, it's just not something you're open about past a certain age. But the sentiments are very, very real and counterproductive.

   It depends how they become wealthy, the worst are the nouveau riche types from poor/middle class backgrounds who managed to get rich through either ability or luck, and believe that any other poor person could do the same if only they worked hard enough. These people tend to be far more obnoxious and conservative than those who were born into money.

    The f**k does the third world have to do with this? The original post was obviously directed at Americans or maybe first world people more broadly. There was even an explicit "out" for people immigrating from third world conditions...

    Worst, most leftarded garbage post i've ever read. Those are the BEST kind of rich people. They recognize the abject, utter, complete miserable failures that make up the dregs they clawed their way out of. Being "conservative" when it comes to views of the poor is the only intellectually justifiable position. Anything short of that is likely based in emotion ("baww don't be so mean baww i feel bad for them baww") and not fact.

    I actually have had contact with poor Americans, via working jobs like pizza delivery (which tends to be a career for many, since it pays well enough to pay bills if you work full time). I have seen a little of what the OP observes in the sense that most of these people could be better off, if they made smarter decisions. What the OP fails to realize is that much of these peoples poverty comes from information asymmetry, differences in expectations and that it is less costly for me to succeed (or alternatively less costly for them to fail).

    My parents are both scientists have Ph.D. One is tenured at a major university and co-authors at Nobel prize winners. I knew what the SAT was in elementary school. My parents also knew from the beginning what is necessary to get admitted to top tier universities and guide me into activities that would ensure that even happened. The probability of not obtaining at least an university education was very small. If I were to have shown signs of failing out of an university due to poor decision making, I probably would have to essentially transfer to an institution close to my home town, or risk losing my parents financial support. Also in the event I chose to transfer to home institution, my parents were educated enough that they could ensure my completion of an education if I were a total dumbass. In other words probablity of not completing college was very very low.

    Now consider the poor kid, in many cases their parents do not posess an education and do not value it. They have to be enlightened enough to know that they need to make certain decisions to achieve at certain levels. In contrast, my parents can be enlightened for me. This lowers their chances of dramatic upward mobility, since they have less information. They probably are self financing their education, and no one is pressuring them to complete. This means the cost of completing education is higher and the costs of failure is lower.
