This in turn has reduced incentives to escape poverty and thus more people who are poor just because they are lazy.
In asian societies it is seen much more as a personal responsibility to make sth out of oneself, so they have a lot less problems with "voluntary" poverty than the US. As a result being poor there might actually be less likely ones own fault.
The incentives are pretty darn big in parts of US society yet poverty is still prevalent. Seems maybe poor people aren't just lazy after all...
